Beatles Unlimited was founded on April 10, 1975, by Erik Bakker. Over time, Erik left and René van Haarlem took over; partly due to the growing demand for the Beatles abroad, the BU was particularly needed for providing information. This was especially true after the British fan club ceased to exist in early 1971. Since 2011, the Facebook page has been managed by Johnny Te Lintelo and Max Bokking. Both have been members of the Beatles Unlimited staff for years and remain very active for the club. René left the club for various reasons. We, the staff members—and there were quite a few of us—only heard months later that René had quit. Sadly, René passed away in 2024. We therefore honor René in this way.
