Beatles Guide
From A Hard Day’s Night on the big screen to the
final rooftop concert, this guide walks you through the key films, TV specials, tours and legendary
performances that shaped the Beatles’ story.
This page focuses on the Beatles as you can see and hear them: in cinemas, on TV, and live on stage.

Below you’ll find an overview of the major feature films, important TV specials, key tours and live eras, plus a spotlight on legendary performances and post-Beatles solo highlights. Where possible, we connect each entry to the right albums and singles so you can explore the music behind the visuals.
Beatles Films & TV Specials
Tours & Live Eras
From tiny clubs to packed stadiums, the Beatles’ live story moves through several distinct eras:

Early Club Days (1960–1962)
The band sharpened their sound in Liverpool and Hamburg, playing long, loud sets night after night. Setlists mixed rock ’n’ roll covers with early Lennon–McCartney originals.

Beatlemania Tours (1963–1964)
Breakthrough tours across the UK, Europe and North America. Short, intense shows where screaming crowds often drowned out the music. Typical sets included Please Please Me, She Loves You and I Want to Hold Your Hand.

World Tours & Bigger Stages (1965–1966)
By now the band were global superstars, playing larger venues and experimenting with more complex songs, while still relying on simpler live arrangements.

From Stage to Studio (1966 onwards)
After stopping regular touring, the Beatles focused on studio work, pushing boundaries with albums like Revolver and Sgt. Pepper. Live appearances became rare and special, leading up to the famous rooftop show.
Legendary Performances
After the Beatles: Solo Highlights
The story continues well beyond 1970. Each Beatle built a rich solo live and film history:

John Lennon –
From the Plastic Ono Band’s raw early shows to iconic events like the One to One concerts, John’s performances often mixed music with activism.

Paul McCartney –
Wings tours in the 1970s, epic stadium tours from the late 1980s onwards, and multiple concert films and TV specials. Visit the Paul McCartney Solo guide for detailed tour and live album notes.

George Harrison –
Landmark events such as the Concert for Bangladesh and his later appearances with friends and collaborators. The George Harrison Solo page connects these to his studio work.

Ringo Starr –
The All-Starr Band tours bring together rotating line-ups of famous musicians, celebrating Beatles hits and solo favourites on stage year after year.
